Dog's life for canine named Adolf (Ananova)
The head of the animal sanctuary, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "The trouble is there are so many negative connotations to the name Adolf, yet we can't change it."
The three-year-old mongrel was found abandoned at the side of a motorway near Hamburg and brought to the shelter in the city.
A letter from the dog's owner, which said the animal could no longer be cared for, was tied to his collar.
"We tried to use other names for him, but he'll only answer to the name Adolf," added the shelter's manager.
"He's a lovely looking dog and a number of people have shown an interest in him, but when they find out his name they don't want to take him anymore. But we're not going to give up hope," he said.
