Woman fined for laughing (Ananova)
Officials in Berlin took action against the 47-year-old, named only as Barbara M in court papers, when her neighbour complained she was disturbing the peace through her giggling.
The 52-year-old neighbour who was also not named but lives with his elderly mother said his noisy neighbour frequently invited people round where they would laugh the night away.
"It is against the law in Germany to make too much noise after 10pm," he complained.
Barbara, who works for an architectural firm in the German capital, said her neighbour was exaggerating.
She said: "I invited some of my colleagues to dinner on one occassion and after a couple of glasses of wine we all started to enjoy ourselves."
She said the next thing she knew the police were knocking on her door and a couple of days later she received a fine for 25 euros in the post.
"It was laughable," she said.

Driver fined for not putting dog in seatbelt (Ananova)
Bobbie the dog was travelling in the back of his owner's car when traffic police pulled the vehicle over in Kempten in the foothills of the German Alps.
They handed his owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, a £17 fine which has now grown to £29 because he's refusing to pay it.
A police spokesman who defended the fine said: "Anything that flies forward when you brake sharply can cause serious injury and needs to be fixed securely in accordance with road safety regulations.
"Small dogs belong on the floor and larger dogs need to be kept in a harness or in the boot," he said.
The spokesman did admit however that a fine was unusual and most officers simply point out the hazard to motorists.
